The Apostle Peter wrote: (1 Peter 1:13–16 NKJV) Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy." (2 Corinthians 7:1 NKJV) Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. (1 Corinthians 6:18–19 NKJV) Flee sexual immorality. (Romans 6:1–2 NKJV) What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Yet, Paul was clear that we should not continue living in sin: (Ephesians 2:8–9 NKJV) For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. The heavily quoted Apostle Paul wrote that we are saved by grace, which is the unearned favor of God, a free gift: And "Why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do the things which I say?" (Luke 6:46 NKJV). But make no mistake, Jesus said, "If you love Me, keep My commandments" (John 14:15 NKJV). I know that Jesus Christ died for our sins and that all of our righteousness is as filthy rags. (Exodus 33:3 NASB) "Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey for I will not go up in your midst, because you are an obstinate people, and I might destroy you on the way." Look at what He told the Israelites after their idol incident: Jesus came to seek and save the lost, the broken, the crushed. I know that is not a popular theme today, but just bear with me till the end of the message. God doesn't like sin, and I am not talking about the sins of our forefathers, but our current ones. But your iniquities have separated you from your God And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. (Isaiah 59:1–2 NKJV) Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, That it cannot save Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. So why don't we see more of it? The biggest hindrance is us. Those are some things that happen during a true revival. Evil spirits came screaming out of the people. Revival is the presence of God coming down to live among His people for a season.
